Obituary of Flora MacDonald

Janet MacDonald passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and support of her husband Richard, their eight children and five grandchildren on Friday, March 9, 2007 at the age of 71 years. Born on April 12, 1935, in Kirkland Lake, ON, Janet was a strong and loving woman who was very proud of her Northern Ontario roots. In 1955 she graduated from Hotel Dieu’s nursing program in Cornwall, ON. Janet applied her knowledge and intuitive care giving skill to raising her eight children, and was very proud to have been able to assist in the births of many of her grand-children. Niah, the most recent, joined our family on January 26, 2007. For thirty years Janet volunteered with the palliative care unit at the Rockyview General Hospital and delivered communion to individuals at home. To her family Janet was a foundation of wisdom and personal insight. Her limitless generosity was shared with family, friends and the community. Janet will be greatly missed and remembered by her husband Richard; her brother Gordon of Cornwall Ontario; her firstborn Roy MacDonald and his wife Valerie, their family Alec, Annie, Angus and Alyse; her son Fraser; her daughter Catherine and husband Don Crothers, and their children Rebekah, Bennett and Beth; her son Alasdair; her daughter Glena and husband Brian Fedori and their two sons, Nicholas and Andrew; her daughter Shona and husband Brad Brodeur, and their four children, Noah, Luke, Anna and Sean; her daughter Frances and her husband Dr. Colin Del Casstilho, and their daughter Niah; and Janet’s youngest son Donegan. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
