Obituary of Kenneth William Raves

Our beloved father, son, uncle, brother, grandpa, husband and best friend passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 7, 2007. Ken was a loving son and brother, a wonderful grandpa and Dad, and most of all he was a beloved husband, and best friend to Verna, his soul mate. They spent forty-three blessed years together. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Kathleen Raves of Montreal; his older brother, John and Gerry Raves and their children Laurie (Michael), David, and Little John (Tracy), and his younger brother, Ernest and Kathleen Raves and their children Brent (Jessica) and Christine. Grandpa will be forever loved and talked about to his two beautiful granddaughters Julia and Madelyn. Dad will be thought about with love everyday by his daughter Sheri and his son-in-law Christopher. Ken was predeceased by his father, John Raves of Montreal. Ken worked for many years in the insurance business but his great passion was golf. You could bet that he would be counting the days down to the start of golf season each and every year. He was a proud long time member of the Silver Springs Golf and Country Club in Calgary. Ken spent most of his summer days golfing with a group of good friends. His proudest golfing moment was when he got his hole-in-one and a tree named after him on his beloved golf course. Most recently, he was able to enjoy a week long golf trip with his brother Ern in Florida. Apart from his days spent on the green, he found great joy in being with his family. He loved to watch his granddaughters play, do his wood working in his basement and just sit outside on a warm day with his dog, Roxy. Dad, we will miss you terribly, words cannot describe how much. Your sense of humour, kindness and generosity to all those around you will help shape our lives in all the days to come. A private family service was held for our dear Ken on Saturday, March 10, 2007, at McInnis and Holloway Funeral Home in Cochrane, AB.
