Obituary of D. Margery MacKenzie

Margery MacKenzie of Calgary passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the age of 93 years. Margery was born on the 24th of August 1913 in Leicester, England. She had many interests including a passion for music, theatre, sports, and fitness. In her youth, she sang with a dance band as well as played competitive tennis. On February 1, 1950 she married the love of her life, Mac and split her time between raising their son Jeremy and performing or directing in over fifty musicals including many different Gilbert and Sullivan operettas and other Broadway classics. Margie was also a founding member of the Leicester Branch of the Women’s League of Health and Beauty and continued classes into her eighties. Upon moving to Cromer, Norfolk with Mac in the early 1990’s, she became an enthusiastic member of the Women’s Institute. Margie was a lifelong fan of almost any sport which continued after immigrating to Canada at age 89 when she became a Flames fan. Margie was predeceased by Mac and will be sorely missed by her son Jeremy; daughter-in-law Sue; grandchildren, Iain (Kath) and Elly (Jonny); and great-grandchildren, Cameron and Holly; as well as a multitude of friends.
