Obituary of Walter Parama

Walter Parama of Calgary died suddenly at Wentworth Manor long term care facility on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at the age of 85 years. Walter was born April 25, 1921. He lived and received his education in Drumheller. He joined the RCAF in 1942 and flew with the RAF as a navigator bombardier. When his aircraft was shot down over Germany, Walter parachuted from the plane and landed in the Black Forest. He escaped into Switzerland and was returned to England by an American crew. He came back to Canada and was married in 1945. Walter spent much of his working career in various departments with the Federal Government. He had a great love of the outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting and roaming the hills and Badlands of Drumheller. He had a keen interest in traveling and during his lifetime managed to see many parts of the world. Walter will be sadly and greatly missed by his children; Evelyn (Peter) and David (Anne) of Edmonton, Gerard (Bobbi), Janice (Kenn) and Marg of Calgary, as well as their mother Irene; grandchildren, Kevin, Warren, Liz, Treva, Stephen, Jason, Curtis, Jessica, Darcy, Amy, Christina, Heather, Jessica and Angelina; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Emily and Hailey as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also left to grieve are Walter’s sister Jennie Schollen of Grand Prairie and his brother Alfred (Damaris) Parama of Red Deer. Walter was predeceased by his father William Parama in 1983, his daughter Lynne in 1985 and his mother Genevieve Parama in 1994. “May God lift you up on eagle’s wings.” Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Friday, March 9, 2007 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
