Obituary of LCol Jean Hamel

LCol Jean Hamel, CD of Calgary passed away peacefully on Monday, March 5, 2007 at the age of 79 years. Jean was born on September 23, 1927 in Quebec City. He began his military career with the Royal 22e Regiment and served in Korea, the Congo, Germany and Quebec. Jean ended his civilian career with Katimavik, the National Youth Program. He was an avid sports enthusiast and loved to play tennis with his friends. Jean is lovingly remembered by Elizabeth, his wife of fifty-one years; his five children Charles (Donna), Pierre (Julie), Christine (Alfred), Lisa (Peter), and Robert (Justine); five grandchildren, Julia, Megan, Kelsey, Maya, and Sophie; his sisters, Suzanne (Jacques) Légaré and Gabie Dorion; as well as many nieces, and nephews.
