Obituary of Edward Kromm
Edward (Ed) Kromm, born on the family farm in De Winton, AB on March 13, 1920, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at the age of 86 years.
One of eleven children, he left for service in the Canadian Army in 1942 where he served overseas until 1946. Returning to Calgary, Ed married Elsie (nee Leinweber) in 1949 and they resided there for the next fifty-seven years. Ed was employed with Manning Egleston Lumber and the Calgary School Board until his retirement in 1982.
Ed is survived by his loving wife Elsie Katherine; his son and daughter-in-law James and Lori; and granddaughters Lindsay (Jarret) Stuart, and Lauren Kromm. He is also survived by three sisters, Emma Stancer, Martha Lee, and Louise (Fred) Knittel; sister-in-law Lilias Kromm; brother-in-law Roy Weitz; as well as fourteen nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his parents, three sisters, Mary, Betty, and Pauline, and two brothers, Phillip and Dan.
Funeral Services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church (204 – 6A Street N.E.) on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the St. John’s Memorial Fund.
