Obituary of Alexander Mitchell Pattie

Mitch Pattie, beloved husband of Ruth, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2007 at the age of 80 years. Mitch joined CP Railway in October 1942, retiring in 1984. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy for the latter part of WWII from November 1944 to May 1946. Mitch married Ruth Salthammer on November 12, 1949 in Moose Jaw, SK. He was a volunteer and past President of the Acadia Community Club. Other memberships included the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers for over fifty years, the Chinook Trailer Club for ten years, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #285 and CP Railway Pensioners Association of Calgary. Besides his loving wife of fifty-seven years Ruth, Mitch is survived by his children, Ross (Lynne), Janet (Tom McCaig) and Gordon (Kathy); grandchildren Sean (Natalie), Kristi (Dave), Alison, Michael and Brian Pattie; and great-grandchildren, Anna Pattie and Kenzie Campbell. He is also survived by his brother Jack Pattie; sisters, Lena Brooks and Shirley Foot; sister-in-law Dorene Pattie; and many nieces and nephews. Mitch was predeceased by his parents John and Annie Pattie; brother Roy Pattie; brothers-in-law, Gil Brooks and Morley Foot; and sister-in-law Phyllis Pattie.
