Obituary of Cat Face
Andrew Francis “Rex” Cat Face was called home by our Lord and Saviour on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital. Our brother Rex passed away unexpectedly surrounded by his children and loving family.
Rex was a loving person, full of humor with a humble character. He enjoyed being with friends, too many to mention. Rex was well known as “Dean Martin” on Siksika Nation. His favourite saying was “What do you want? A Bannock Slap, a Moccasin Kick, or a Tomahawk Chop?”
Rex is survived by his children Andrew (Carol), Ruby, Lorrissa & Dickie Standing Alone, and their mother Theresa, and grandchildren Rylee, Grayson, and Shay; siblings Lloyd Cat Face, Hanks (Eileen) Eagle Head, Alexandra Cat Face, Lena (Arnold) Running Rabbit, Shirley Bull Bear, Lillian Turning Robe, Birdie (Wesley) Running Rabbit, Cheryl (Herbie) Baptiste, and Judy (Kenneth) Doore. He is also survived by his loving nephews and nieces, special grandson Matthew Drunken Chief; adopted mother Ann McMaster and family; adopted family the Solways; Uncles Pete (Evelyn) Cayen, Harold (Catherine) Cat Face, Alfred (Connie) Cat Face, and Roy Stimson, Sr., and their families; Aunties Florence Calf Child, Florence Back Fat, Evelyn Weasel Head, Cecille Many Guns, Cecilia Many Heads, and their families. He will be remembered by his extended relatives of the Cat Face, Cayen, Solway, Medicine Shield, Duck Chief, Scalplock, Bear Robe, Jerry, Yellow Old Woman, Turning Robe, Day Chief, Buckskin, Long Time Squirrel, Jacobs, LaRoque, McKay, Boyer, Anderson, Adams, Cook, Swain, Cunningham, Stillman, and Oakes families. The family apologizes if anyone was missed. Rex was predeceased by his parents Michael and Norma (nee Cayen) Cat Face, sister Christina Bull Shields, brother Glenn Turning Robe, step father and friend Damien Many Bears, and special brother Andrew Solway (whom he cherished). He was also predeceased by his paternal grandparents Joe and Annie Cat Face, maternal grandparents John and Mary Jane Cayen, great grandfather One Gun, and numerous other uncles, aunts and friends.
Wake Services will be held at Sister Celine Memorial Parish Hall (Siksika Nation, AB) on Sunday, March 4, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Monday, March 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Ian Gagne, Presider. Graveside Service to follow at Little Washington Cemetery, Siksika Nation, AB. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family wishes to thank the nurse (ICU Unit 24) who took care of Rex at the Peter Lougheed during his last hours.
