Obituary of Mary Catherine Tracey

Mary Catherine Tracey of Calgary passed away on Saturday February 24, 2007, at the age of 87 years. Mary was born on May 30, 1919 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and came to Calgary in the early 1950’s where she worked as a secretary in the oil and gas industry. Mary did extensive travelling during her life, and also served as a lay missionary in Malawi, Africa for two years. She worked in Los Angeles for ten years to be near to her sister before returning to Calgary in 1980. Though for many years she struggled with Cystic Fibrosis, this never defeated her spirit or faith. She was very active in St. Johns Catholic Church and Secular Franciscan Order. Mary is survived by her two cousins in Ireland; as well as her brother and sisters of the S.F.O. She was predeceased by her parents Mary and Henry Tracey; and her sister Sister Mary Raphael of the Poor Clares in Santa Barbara. Friends and relatives are invited to prayers at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (Corner of 4th Street and Northmount Drive N.W.) on Wednesday February 28, 2007, at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (Corner of 4th Street and Northmount Drive N.W.) on Thursday March 1, 2007, at 10:30.
