Obituary of Michael Vincent Matthews
Michael Vincent (Vince) Matthews of Calgary passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at the age of 100 years.
Vince was born in Weyburn, SK and had just celebrated his 100th birthday. He spent most of his life in Regina, SK working as a high school teacher and alderman. Vince will be remembered mostly for his greeting of “Are you from Saskatchewan”. We miss you Dad.
Vince is survived by two daughters Joan Matthews (Mikel Johnson), of Calgary and Sheila (Jerry) Ashe, of Alabama. He is also survived by two step-daughters Pam van vugt, and Lynne (Don) Semenchuk; and a step-son Larry Thorburn, all of Calgary, AB; as well as one grandson Patrick Ashe and seven step-grandchildren. Vince was predeceased by his first wife Marguerite in 1965, his oldest daughter Maureen in 1968, and his second wife Ruth in 2001.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.) on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to extend our thanks to the Colonel Belcher nurses and staff.
