Obituary of William Kennedy

William (Bill) Halvor Kennedy beloved husband of Ruth Kennedy of Calgary, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2007 at the age of 81 years. Growing up in Winnipeg, MB, Bill joined the Canadian Army in 1943 and was discharged in 1945 as a lieutenant. After obtaining his law degree from the University of Manitoba in 1948, Bill joined Kennedy, Kennedy, Kennedy and Altman. In 1950, he joined Imperial Oil eventually settling in Calgary in 1954. Bill practiced law with the firm Ballem, McDill and MacInnes from 1969 until 1979, at which time he formed Kennedy and Company, where he practiced until his retirement in 1991. In addition to being an avid reader his many interests included sailing, astral navigation, riding and golf. Along with his loving wife of fifty-nine years Ruth Kennedy (nee McAllister), Bill will be forever remembered by his daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Wendy A. Kennedy and Dr. Robert Goyer of Montreal, QC; son and daughter-in-law William Y. Kennedy and Kit Johnson of Calgary; and by his grandson William Derek McAllister Kennedy. He was predeceased by his father Kenneth Romayne Kennedy, K.C., and his mother Alma Pauline and by his sister Phyllis. Friends are invited to meet with the family at Ruth’s residence on Saturday, February 24, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
