Obituary of George Waslen

George Waslen of Calgary Alberta (born in Yorkton, SK) passed away peacefully at the age of 85 years. He will be deeply missed and forever loved and remembered by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Grant and Susie, Bob and Lana, Doug and Tanis; and seven grandchildren, Josh, Nick, Erin, Lindsay, Victoria, Juliette and Colette. George was predeceased by his loving wife of thirty-seven years Joan (Margaret) Waslen (nee Saunders); and brother Art of Calgary. He is survived by his sisters, Kay Emerton of Calgary and Vicky Garrett of Penticton, BC brother Bill of Victoria, BC and brother Nick of Kamloops, BC, as well as numerous relatives and dear friends. A WWII Navy Veteran, firefighter and electrician, George retired in 1991. He spent his time chasing the “big one” (fishing), playing crib at the Legion, playing slowpitch, golfing and tinkering around the house. George loved to work with his hands and always seemed to be busy; working on a toaster for a friend or building wooden boot jacks.
