Obituary of Carmine Lombardo

Carmine Lombardo of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at the age of 79 years. Carmine was born September 11, 1927 in Monteforte, Irpino, Avellino, Italy and immigrated to Canada with his family in June 1961. He married Iolanda Ferarra on August 11, 1962. Carmine was employed with Cana Construction for twenty-five years and retired from work in 1994 to enjoy days making wine, gardening and spending time with his family. Besides Iolanda, his loving wife of forty-four years, Carmine is also survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Tony (Mary), Jerry (Lisette) and Alfonso (Michelle); four grandchildren, Katherine, Melinda, Carmine and Bennett, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his four siblings, Generoso (Maria), Maria (Carlo) Romano, Emilia (Alfonso), Vona and Guiseppe (Anna-Maria); his sisters-in-law, Maria and Giuseppina Lombardo as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Carmine was predeceased by his brothers, Francesco and Vincenzo as well as his parents, Aurelio and Annunziata (nee Dacierno) Lombardo. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, February 19, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
