Obituary of Elizabeth Wright

Mrs. Elizabeth Wright of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2007. Born on March 13, 1916 in Teehangan, Russia, Elizabeth immigrated to Canada with her parents, Henry and Aganeta Mathies in 1924. The family homesteaded in Rush Lake, Saskatchewan. In 1935 she married Harvey R. Wright and they made their home in Milk River, Alberta. She lived most of her life in Milk River and this was where she raised their family. In 1980 she moved to Lethbridge, Alberta to be closer to her second daughter, Janice and her family. In the fall of 1988 Elizabeth moved to Calgary to be with her two other daughters, Joan and Renee. Elizabeth loved to celebrate birthdays and other special events with dinner parties in her home. Her friends and family will always remember that “no one went away hungry” when they came to Mrs. Wright’s house. Although stricken with MS she was a figure of hope and encouragement to all who knew her. She drew strength through prayer and her trust in the Lord. Elizabeth will be greatly missed by her family and friends – we will remember her for her unconditional love, warm hospitality, serene wisdom and above all, her prayers. She is survived by her three daughters, Joan (Edward) Lee, Janice (Robert) Leskosek and Renee (Rodney) Haraga; her six grandchildren, Jason Lee, Tai Lee, James Greenwood-Lee (Anna), Rob Leskosek, Jim Leskosek, and Aaron Leskosek; her great-granddaughter Ava Elizabeth Greenwood-Lee; her sister-in-law Katie Mathies; and by many nieces and nephews.
