Obituary of J. Humphrey Cooper

J. Humphrey Cooper passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at the age of 90 years. Born June 27, 1916 in Calgary, Humphrey will be remembered for a life of service to his church, family, and profession. A Certified Management Accountant, he practiced in a variety of local industries. He moved to London, Ontario as internal auditor for Silverwood Dairies in 1970, and returned to Calgary after retiring in his mid-seventies. The Baptist Church was a central focus in Humphrey’s life. He faithfully served as deacon, treasurer, teller, and choir member until his mid-eighties. A keen observer of nature, he shared interests in photography, ham radio, science, astronomy, and the outdoors with family and friends. Humphrey is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty-one years Wilma; her sisters Esther Schlosser and Florence Perkins; three sons, Dave (Gail), Dale (Judy), and Paul (Deborah); eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Humphrey was predeceased by his sister Lucy and two brothers, Gunnar and Fred. Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to attend a celebration of Humphrey’s life to be held at Westview Baptist Church (1313 Ranchlands Way N.W.) on Friday, February 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Dayle Medgett, Presider. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Heartfelt thanks to the many caring staff of Bow View Manor who helped Humphrey throughout his stay, particularly easing his last days.
