Obituary of Gwendolyn King

Gwen King, beloved wife of Bob King of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at the age of 69 years. Gwen was born on June 16, 1937 in Spirit River, AB and received her education there. She then moved to Calgary in 1955 where she graduated from the Calgary General Hospital with her Nursing Degree. She was nursing in Grand Prairie, when she met Bob and married him on November 4, 1963. They moved to Edmonton where John was born then to Calgary in 1967. In 1970 the family moved to Bahrain in the Persian Gulf. Over the next eighteen years they had a series of moves that included Europe, Middle East and the Far East. Gwen’s adventurous and strong spirit created many lasting friendships and experiences. Bob and Gwen returned to Canada in 1988 and Gwen began working at the Grace Hospital in administration until its closure. Over the past few years Gwen was devoted to her grandchildren, family, and close friends. Gwen has been fighting her illness for the past ten years. Besides her loving husband Bob, Gwen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law John and Kathy King of London, England; four grandchildren, Laura, Robbie, Jack and Ana. Gwen was predeceased by her brothers, Jimmy Vader and Sonny Vader; as well as her sisters, Dolly Murray and Dana Hepburn. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
