Obituary of Marguerite Gwendolyn Steele

After an extended and wondrous visit, enriching to all, Marguerite’s Father came on Monday afternoon, February 5, 2007 to take her home. She was enjoying some good quality moments and selected Scripture readings with her son at the time. Her family would be delighted if friends and relatives would honor Father and daughter by attending a final farewell to celebrate her remarkable and varied contributions to our lives during her time amongst us. A Celebration will be held at Woodgreen Presbyterian Church (corner of Elbow Drive and Canyon Meadows Drive) on Sunday, February 11, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Woodgreen Presbyterian Church, 12777 Candle Crescent S.W. Calgary, AB T2W 3B3 Telephone: (403)251-4855. Born in Digby, Nova Scotia on September 24, 1904, the daughter of Norman A. and Margaret E. Cummings, and the youngest of ten children, she moved to Middleton, Nova Scotia with her family at the age of eight where she resided for over ninety years after which time she moved to Calgary, AB to live with her son John and his wife Neleta. An outgoing person, she quickly integrated with other seniors in Calgary South through the auspices of the Calgary Carewest C3 Program. She was a member of the Baptist Church, Middleton, N.S. She is survived by son John (Neleta); grandsons Bren (Julie), Jay (Carol); great grandsons, Ryan and Tyler, Jaxon and Wilson; great-granddaughters, Kyrsten and Kate; nieces Gwendolyn Gardner (Thomas), Dorothy Vye; grand nieces, Carol Mitchell, Norma Gouther, Roberta Baker, Sandy Lincoln and Cathy Chaing; and grand nephews, Glenn Cummings (Donna) Don Lincoln (Susan), Jimmy and Bobby Gardner. Truly a Christian, Rete will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She loved her family and many friends “as herself”. But most of all she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We shall be fortunate indeed when her kind shall pass this way again.
