Obituary of Lena Matkin
The family of Lena Matkin are saddened to announce that she passed away peacefully on February 3, 2007, at the Rockyview Hospital with her loving family by her side, at the age of 84 years.
Lena was born on October 14, 1922, in Romania. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1927 settling in the British Columbia Interior. Lena will be remembered as a thoughtful, kind, loving and caring person and will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. She believed in “family” first and foremost, and made it her life’s ambition to achieve this, resulting in a very close and loving family who will all miss her dearly. Lena and Don’s favorite time’s in life were wintering in Las Vegas each year, the family summer holidays at Gardom Lake where we were all together, and family breakfasts every Sunday with her grandchildren.
A mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend, she was pre-deceased by her husband of 50 years, Don; daughter Susan; and granddaughter Jenna. Lena is survived by her children, Sandra (Garry Milligan), Bruce, Tom (Lori), Mike (Debbie) and Bill (Diane); her grandchildren Aaron, Steve, Lisa, Matt, Ryan, Jake, and Rachel, all of whom she loved dearly; as well as her sisters; other relatives; and many friends.
A Celebration of her Life with friends and family will be arranged at a later date.
