Obituary of Doreen Howard
Doreen Howard of Calgary passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at the age of 73 years.
Doreen was born in Brighton, England on August 10, 1933. She immigrated to Canada at the age of twenty-one. Doreen worked as a Secretary along the way. She retired in 1998 after twenty years of dedicated service with the Calgary Board of Education. Doreen made many, many friends with her devotion and the time she gave to St. Mary’s Cathedral for over thirty years. She was a very kind, caring and giving person, always thinking of others first. Doreen loved animals very much and supported many charities over the years. She will be greatly missed by her dear friends Winnie and Rafael Moreira of Calgary; as well as her brother John William Smith of Essex, England. She was predeceased by her best friend and companion Arnie Bjuring in 1998.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, February 9, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Lawrence Bagnall of St. Mary’s Cathedral, Presider. There will be a Mass in memory of Doreen at St. Mary’s Cathedral at a later date. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
