Obituary of Marina Sidorenko

Marina Sidorenko passed away peacefully in her sleep at Foothills Hospital on Monday, January 29, 2007 at the age of 85 years. Marina was born to Russian parents in Constantinople, now Istanbul, Turkey on March 16, 1921. Later the family moved to Belgrade, Yugoslavia where she received her education and married Samson Sidorenko. Following WWII, the family immigrated to Canada, initially residing in the Lethbridge area and eventually moving to Calgary. Those who knew Marina will remember her as a kind and gentle woman who wished well to all. She inspired a deep loyalty and affection in all her children. She was an exceptional woman and a mother. Marina is survived by her two sons John and Michael and was predeceased by her only daughter Natalie. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. George Primak of the Russian Greek Orthodox Church Of All Saints, Presider. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. The family members wish to express a special thanks to the medical and nursing staff at the Foothills Hospital (unit 81) and to the Bow View Manor Nursing Home staff for their attentive care giving.
