Obituary of Johanna Elisabeth Heynen

It is with great sadness that the family of Johanna Elisabeth (Oma) Heynen announces her passing on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the age of 82 years, with her loving family by her bedside. Johanna was born in Venray, Limburg, the Netherlands on June 22, 1924. She married Peter John Heynen on June 4, 1946. John and Johanna immigrated to Canada in 1951 with two young children and settled in High River, AB. Over the next few years, five more children were born into the family and Oma devoted her entire life to nurturing and caring for the family which has now grown to over thirty-four members. Over the years, on any given day of the week, lunch at Oma’s was the highlight for the entire family and countless friends. It was not unusual to have ten to fifteen people in the house at any given time and regardless of whether you were family or friends Oma always made you feel welcome. John, her husband of over sixty years, her children and her grandchildren were the centre of Oma’s life and they will never forget her unconditional love and dedication to her family. Along with her loving husband John, Oma will be forever remembered by her children and their spouses, Frans and Darlene Heynen, Ted and Lilian Heynen, Anna Marie and Wayne Kopp, John and Judy Heynen, Jim and Julianne Heynen, Betty and Roger Bourque; daughter-in-law Barbara Heynen; and by her nineteen precious grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Arna and Adriaanus van Stokkom in the Netherlands. Oma was predeceased by two sons, Fransje in 1947 and Mark in 1993, as well as several relatives in the Netherlands. Friends and Relatives are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, February 2, 2007 at 10:30 a.m., with Rev.
