Obituary of Patricia Anne McNeil

Patricia Anne McNeil (nee Westell) of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on January 21, 2007, after a tremendous and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 60 years. Pat was born on May 22, 1946, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Pamela and Maurice Westell, and was the first of four children. Pat had two beautiful and devoted daughters of her own: Karla Jones (Murray) and Heather Gottenbos (Terry), who provided her with two delightful grandchildren, five-year-old Stanley Jones and nine-month-old Davis Gottenbos, her greatest joys in life. She is also survived by her brother Brian (Val) Westell of Coquitlam, B.C.; her sisters, Jan (Damon) Westell of Delta, B.C. and Nancy (Allan) Waddell of Pender Island, B.C.; and along with her nephews. Pat touched the lives of many wonderful people throughout her years in Calgary, and previous to that, Regina. Her spirit was reflected in the numerous friendships she had. She recently became an avid walker and completing the half marathon in Vancouver was one of her most satisfying accomplishments. Pat was a charming and vivacious person with the ability to laugh at herself. She had a great sense of humour and strong faith which helped her through the difficult times in her life and that taught her daughters the value of laughter. Pat’s family wish to send a special thanks to the Palliative Home Care Team of the Calgary Health Region. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Breast Cancer Association. Details of Pat’s Celebration of Life to be announced.
