Obituary of Steve Hvizdos

Steve Hvizdos, beloved husband of Margot Hvizdos of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at the age of 85 years. Steve was born on January 18, 1922 in Kluknava, Slovakia. Steve’s family immigrated to Canada, settling in the Crowsnest Pass, where he grew up and started his own family. Steve worked as an electrician in Calgary with Alpine Electric and later with the University of Calgary. Steve loved the outdoors – fishing, hunting and camping. He and Margot enjoyed travelling together, their highlight being a trip to Europe. Steve also enjoyed music and as a young man played in the West Canadian Collieries Band. He was proud to pass on his love of music to his daughter and granddaughter. Besides his loving wife of sixty-three years, Steve is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Bill Wiggins; granddaughter Kim Wiggins; and three sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Gray, Anne Brown and Kay and John Kovacik. He was predeceased by his parents John and Katharina; sister Sophie; and brothers Gaspar and John.
