Obituary of John Frederick Smith-Jones
Fred passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, January 22, 2007 at the age of 58 years. He is survived by Virginia his wife and companion of twenty-nine years. He was born in Saskatoon on April 8, 1948 and moved to Calgary in 1961. Fred’s background as a Heavy Duty Mechanic and his fascination with anything electrical led him to create his own successful and thriving company, Smith-Jones Holdings (1983) Inc., servicing emergency generators throughout southern Alberta. He is also survived by his mom, Greta (Bill) Guy; and his brother Bob. Others left to cherish Fred’s memory are his extended family members Walt and Gerry Norman, their children Kara and Ryan, Dick and Delores Bischke, Carol (Dean) Owens, Jocelynne (Envar) Smith-Jones/Sunay, Robert (Lynelle) Smith-Jones, Richard (Shirley) Kwong, John Kwong (Lorene), and Jenny (Hans)Smith-Jones/School. Fred was predeceased by his father Gwyn and his sister Carol.
He will be lovingly remembered for his warm heart, mentorship, and fun loving attitude. Fred could creatively fix or build anything and loved a challenge.
Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Friday, January 26, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
