Obituary of George Beattie
George Gordon of Calgary passed away on Monday, January 22, 2007 at the age of 83 years.
George was born on March 18, 1923 in Tuxford, SK, he was raised on the family farm until he was 12 years old and then moved to Moose Jaw, SK. He served in World War II with the artillery from 1941-1946. George signed in peace time with the military from 1949-1970 serving with the Lord Strathcona Horse and the Fort Garry Horse. He had postings in Cyprus and Germany and attained the rank of Master Warrant Officer. Upon retiring from the army in Calgary, George went to work for AGT for fifteen years. He spent the last ten years living in the Creston area.
George is survived by two children, Georgina (Bill) Bosch of Calgary, AB and Robert Edward Beattie of Victoria, BC; and four grandchildren, Damon and Bravin Bosch, Aria Greaves and Sheyla Beattie. He was predeceased by his first wife A.E. Betty Beattie in 1997 and by his sister Laura Jerred in 2004.
