Mary Moure

Obituary of Mary Irene Moure

Mary Irene Mouré (nee Grendys) of Calgary passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at Rosedale Hospice, at the age of 82 years. Mary was born on November 27, 1924 in Chlebovice, Poland. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1929 and she grew up in the Peace River country near Beaverlodge, AB. She completed high school in Grande Prairie, AB and trained as a nurse at the Edmonton General Hospital, graduating in 1948. She worked as an R.N. at the Holy Cross Hospital from the late 1960’s until her retirement. Mary had a great love for the outdoors and for animals, particularly dogs and horses. She also loved travel and enjoyed hiking and cross-country skiing in the mountain parks. Mary was a strong advocate of life-long education as the key to a better world, with greater care for the environment. Her greatest personal concern was that her children and grandchildren be brought up well, and she took great pride in their accomplishments. She is survived by her three children, Erin (Montreal), Kenneth (Santa Barbara) and Bill Jr. (Falun), and four grandchildren. During her long illness Mary received care, assistance and encouragement from many friends. Her children would like to thank Mary’s neighbours at Arbour Lake for their support, and the staff of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, particularly Dr. Theresa Trotter, Dr. Lynn Savoie, and physiotherapist Jodi Koch. They give special thanks to the staff of Rosedale Hospice for their exceptional care of Mary, for their humour and compassion. They also would like to thank their father, William Mouré Sr., for his constant support. A Memorial Celebration will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. Please forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
