Obituary of Rosaria Barberio

Rosaria (Vetere) Barberio passed away, surrounded by her loving family, after a long battle with cancer on Sunday, January 21. Rosaria was born in San Giovanni in Fiore, Italy, where she married her first love, Gabriel, in 1950. She immigrated to Canada in 1963 to join the life her husband had established for his family. She was a woman of great strength and touched the hearts of all who knew her. It brought her great joy to spend time in her home and garden, and ensuring her family and friends were well taken care of. She was a woman who put family first, and will always be remembered for being a “Pillar of Strength”. Rosaria was predeceased by her husband, Gabriel, and her two brothers, Francesco Vetere and Antonio Ambrosio. She leaves behind a legacy of five children; Caterina (Giuseppe) Gualtieri , Teresa (Saverio) Scalise, Antonio (Maria) Barberio, Josephine (Gerardo) Scalise, and Mary (Darren) Hall. She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She will be forever remembered by her brother, Giuseppe (Rosa) Vetere, and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) today, January 23, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Ascension Catholic Church (1100 Berkshire Boulevard N.W.) on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev.
