Obituary of Benito Russo

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father, nonno, and husband, Benito “Benny” Russo. He passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, January 18, 2007. Benito was born April 7, 1933, in Fossalto, Campobasso, Italy. He immigrated to Calgary in 1970 with his wife and two sons, and later with the addition of two daughters. Benito will be remembered by many for his relentless work ethic and cheerful nature, as one who never let family or friends down. He enjoyed his life to the fullest. Benito is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Annunziatina “Tina” Russo; sons and daughters-in-law, Francesco and Natasha, and Sergio and Tara Russo; daughters, Tiziana and Nadia Russo; and his adoring grandchildren, Rene, Eva, Jonah, and Antonio Russo, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his brother, Fedelangelo “Mike” Russo and his wife, of Calgary; sister, Antonietta Carrelli and her husband, of Italy; as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews from Calgary, Italy, Australia, and Venezuela. Benito was predeceased by his parents, Francesco and Filomena Russo, as well as his brothers, Alfredo and Pasquale Russo and nephew, Massimo Russo, all of Italy. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (640 – 19th Avenue N.W.) on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Friday, January 26, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Krystian Golisz, Presider. Graveside Service to follow at the Queen’s Park Mausoleum. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
