Obituary of Salvatore Corea

Salvatore Corea of Calgary passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2007 at the age of 89 years. Salvatore was born on May 3, 1917 in Albi, Cantanzaro, Italy. In January 1943 he married Maria and together they had four children. In 1959 Salvatore and his family immigrated to Calgary to start a new life and to give his family all that he could. He was a dedicated and hard worker who was employed in the concrete division for Gallelli until his retirement in 1982. Salvatore very much enjoyed his retirement by lovingly tending to his garden and his greenhouse and making wine every year was something he looked forward to. His love for his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will never be forgotten, he was always so happy to see us. Salvatore is survived by Maria, his loving wife of sixty-four years; daughter Rosa Corea; two sons and daughters-in-law, Nicola and Rosa Corea and Tony and Betty Corea; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Salvatore and Concetta Arrotta and Nicola and Caterina Parrottino; eleven grandchildren and their spouses; sixteen great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Italy. He was predeceased by his son Pasquale Corea on March 8, 2001. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, January 22, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. .
