Obituary of Amelia Primiterra
Amelia Primiterra of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Tuesday January 16, 2007, at the age of 87 years.
She will be remembered for her endless generosity and her never-ending love for her family and friends. Despite enduring years of medical complications she found strength in her Catholic faith and purpose in serving others. Born on December 28, 1919 in Torrevecchia, Chieti, Italy to Gelsomina and Carmine Antonio Tacconelli, she was the third of four children. In 1939 Amelia married her beloved husband of sixty-six years, Mauro Primiterra. Together they immigrated to Calgary in 1971 to be close to their children and grandchildren. Nonna Amelia enjoyed spending time in the garden, smelling flowers and picking tomatoes. She took great pride in preparing meals for her family and was genuinely interested in the lives of her loved ones. With her delicate smile and kind words she touched the hearts of all those who knew her.
In addition to her loving husband Amelia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Anna and Alec Dorazio; and her son and daughter-in-law Alfonso and Assunta Primiterra. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Dino and Roberto Dorazio, Maurizio, Paolo, Mary and Michael Primiterra. Her spirit will live on in her great-grandchildren, Reanne, Daniel, Amelia, Isabella, Lorenzo, Thomas and Sophia. She was predeceased by her brothers Giulio and Matteo and by her sister Anna.
