Obituary of Jean Young

Jean Roberta Young died of natural causes on Sunday, January 14, 2007, after a good life of 80 years. Jean was born on September 8, 1926, in Enchant, AB, and later moved to Calgary with her family. She graduated from Crescent Heights High School and shortly after, met her husband to be, Lionel, whom she married in 1945. They lived in Calgary until 1961, moved to Regina for a time, and returned to Calgary in 1968. Their home near Stampede Park, allowed family and friends free parking year round. Jean’s love of her family came first, a close second was the Calgary Stampeders and the Calgary Flames. She was a true Calgarian, volunteering her time in many different ways. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her sons and daughters-in-law, Harry Young, Chuck and Lesley Young, and Laura Young; her grandchildren Rob, Charley and Will Young and Lisa Colbourne; her great-granddaughter Kaylee; her brother Bill Jaycock; and her best friend Joyce Wytsma. She was predeceased by her husband Lionel in 1991 and her son Doug in 2001. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday January 17, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
