Obituary of Allan Keith Aldridge

Allan Keith Aldridge of Calgary passed away peacefully on Friday January 5, 2007 surrounded and comforted by his three children and his dear friend Martina, at the age of 75 years. Keith was born in Strome, Alberta to Athelstan (Happy) Arnold and Emma Johanne Aldridge. He was a man of humble beginnings and as a child loved to spend his days watching trains and playing baseball. He grew to love sports, competing in baseball, football, hockey and eventually he played basketball for the University of Alberta. There he completed his Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Economics and Psychology. Keith loved his work and chosen profession, Labour Relations. He worked proudly and diligently for Canadian Phoenix, and while there farmed near Chipmund, then he went to De Havalland Canada, Western Co-Operative Fertilizers, the Alberta Labour Relations Board (for many years as Vice Chairman), and for the Worker’s Compensation Board in Calgary before retiring. He lived the wisdom his father Athelstan had shared with him, “Anything worth doing is worth doing well and for it’s own sake.” Keith went on to marry his wife Trudy with whom he had three children. He was a proud and devoted father who always had time for his kids. Keith will be remembered for his love of words and his friendly and social spirit. He was a great conversationalist, genuinely interested in the people he met and a truly loyal friend to those in his life. Keith was very trusting and kind. His fun sense of humour and generous heart touched all of those that had the pleasure of knowing him. Keith will be dearly missed by his former wife Trudy, his children, Allan Michael (Martina), Nancy and John (Chantey); his grand-children, Meenah and Anoush; his sister Betty Doak and her husband Bill Doak; nephews Murray and Ken; niece Cathy as well as his many dear relatives, friends and colleagues. A Memorial Service will be held in Keith’s honour at Park Memorial Chapel (9709 – 111 Ave), Edmonton, AB., Telephone (1-888-822-3526) on Saturday, January 20, 2007 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
