Obituary of Dorothy Elizabeth Crandall

Betty Crandall, beloved wife of Bill Crandall of Calgary, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the age of 80 years. She had been struggling for some time with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the blood, and associated kidney failure. Betty was born in Calgary on June 16, 1926. Her family lived for many years in Kenora, ON which is where she met Bill. Betty graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Finance) in 1949. Betty and Bill were married in Kenora in 1951. Betty leaves to mourn her loss her husband of fifty-five years, Bill; and two daughters, Susan Crandall of Calgary and Jill MacKenzie of Costa Rica. She is also survived by two special cousins, Leona Dallas and Dolores Troyer, both of Victoria, BC. At Betty’s request, no funeral service will be held and flowers are gratefully declined. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family wish to thank all the doctors and the nursing staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and the Renal Department of the Foothills Medical Centre for the excellent care that Betty received. The family also wish to thank the Palliative Care nurses who visited Betty at home for their compassion, skill and organizational abilities. Thanks most especially to Norma and Irene. Betty had been undergoing dialysis treatments the last few months at the South Calgary Dialysis Centre and the nurses there were absolute angels. Our sincere thanks to them. The last doctor to care for Betty was Dr. Bruce Culleton, as fine a young man and doctor that it has been our privilege to meet. Bless you. “Good night my sweetheart. Miss you very much, but we’ll soon be together again. Love you madly – Bill” In living memory of Betty Crandall, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E.
