Obituary of Louise Gertrude Tardiff
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Louise Tardiff (Shea) of Edmonton, AB formerly of Calgary, on January 4, 2007 at the age of 86 years.
Louise was born on January 9, 1920 in Indian River, P.E.I. As a young woman she moved with two of her friends to Montreal, QC. There she met her soon to be husband, Emile Thomas (Curly) Tardiff and they were married December 2, 1944. Curly and Louise moved to Edmonton, AB in 1946, and in 1950 to Calgary where they stayed all of their married lives. After celebrating fifty years of marriage together in 1994, Curly’s passing led Louise back to Edmonton in the Fall of 2005 to join her daughter and to be closer to her family. Louise was a member of the Catholic Women’s League (C.W.L.) and an avid card player. She enjoyed walking and in recent years had developed a love of golf. She and Curly enjoyed many golf games with friends both in Calgary and on winter vacations in California. Never one to complain, Louise was a cheerful person with a good sense of humour and the ability to laugh at herself. Louise’s sense of humour and strong faith have helped her through the difficult times in her life.
Louise will be lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Garry Trottier of Edmonton, AB; son Robert Tardiff of Vancouver, B.C.; three grandchildren, Lisa, Tom and Joe and one great granddaughter Claudia. She is also survived by her two sisters, Frances Campbell, Geraldine Berrigan, both of P.E.I.; one brother, William Shea of Hamilton, ON, as well as many other extended family members and friends. Louise was predeceased by her loving husband Emile (Curly); parents Agnes and Francis; and by two sisters, Eunice Shea and Mary Gaudet.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 – 34th Street S.W.) on Friday, January 12, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Dielissen, Presider.
