Obituary of Stephen Shevkenek

Stephen Shevkenek, beloved husband of Margaret Shevkenek of Calgary, passed away on January 4, 2007 at the age of 88. Stephen was born January 8, 1919 and raised in Rhein, Saskatchewan. He moved to the Peace River Country during the war to help build the Alaska Highway. While there, he met the love of his life, Margaret Alexander, and they married on November 1, 1943. Stephen enjoyed a career as an entrepreneur, businessman and salesman. He proudly raised his family in Fort St. John, B.C., and spent the last thirty years in Calgary. Besides his loving wife, Margaret, Stephen is survived by his family, Alan and Vi Shevkenek of Yellowknife; Patricia and Harley Torgerson of Calgary; Brian and Bev Shevkenek of Calgary; Murray and Linda Shevkenek of Revelstoke, B.C.; Lynn and John Moerschbacher of Calgary; Ted and Tina Shevkenek of Fort St. John, B.C.; Mark and Connie Shevkenek of Calgary; as well as eighteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Elliott and Alice Shevkenek, both of Chilliwack. Stephen was predeceased by his parents and five of his brothers and sisters. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Monday, January 8, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev.
