Obituary of Virgilio Fabbro
Virgilio Eno Fabbro beloved husband of Lois Fabbro of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2007at the age of 84 years.
Virgilio was born in Nogaredo, Italy in 1922 and at the age of nineteen he was drafted into the Italian Army. He served in the Alpini Regiment on the Russian Front Line in WWII. After serving in the army, Virgilio moved to Canada in 1951 where he assisted in forming Fabbro Construction. He later worked for Burns Foods for thirty-four years until he retired. Virgilio was an honourary member of the Italian Club, a member of the Fogolar-Furlan as well as an associate member of the Army and Navy Airforce Veterans in Canada. He enjoyed bowling, bocce ball, traveling, family outings and participating with the Thorncliffe Seniors.
Virgilio is survived by Lois, his loving wife of fifty-two years; his son Darcy; grandchildren, Tara and Derek; daughter-in-law Colleen; brothers, Mario (Olga) and Frank (Maria) of Italy; brother-in-law Clayton (Helen), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and relatives in Italy and Manitoba. He was predeceased by his son Roy; his sister Amalia and brother Arrigo.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, January 8, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (Corner of 4th Street and Northmount Drive N.W.) on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Raul Ranola, Presider. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. ..In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.
