Obituary of Derwood Brown

It is with heavy hearts we announce Dag Brown, best friend and husband of Nancy Brown passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, January 1, 2007 at the age of 69 years. Dag was born on October 9, 1937 to Elsie and Derwood (Pat) Brown. Dag was a man of tremendous character whose loyalties lay deep with family and friends. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humour. He enjoyed golfing, camping, wine making, puttering around in his garage and spending time with his family. Dag was born in Biggar, SK., he grew up in Bassano until his family moved to Claresholm where he attended school and helped his dad run the Lucky Meat Market. Dag and Nancy met and married in Calgary. Dag worked in the finance/insurance industry, the Bank of Montreal, and then, his favourite hobby being cars, he started his own car and RV business and ran it successfully for over twenty-five years. He and his family enjoyed years of great times on camping trips. The memories of those wonderful days will forever be cherished. Dag was our handyman and could fix anything, take on any special project and do it well. He loved his grandchildren immensely and he will be missed and remembered by them. His passion was to be on the golf course, with his wife and many friends, then chatting over dinners. Besides his loving wife of forty-five years, Dag is survived by his daughters and his son-in-law, Deanna and Steve Kolodinsky, and Jennifer Sparksman; as well as his son Doug, all from Calgary. He is also survived by his brother Douglas of Lethbridge; six grandchildren, Kristina, Kevin, Jessica, Michelle, Jamie and Sean; and numerous relatives. A Celebration of Dag’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family deeply appreciates the extraordinary and compassionate care extended to Dag from Dr. Peter Wash.
