Obituary of Steve Collins

Steve (Eleven Frogs) Collins beloved husband of Maureen Big Plume of Tsuu T’ina Nation, has been called home by our Creator on Sunday, December 24, 2006 at the age of 76 years. Steve was born in Saddle Lake, AB. He met his wife Maureen of T’suu T’ina where they traveled the world with “Up with People”. Steve was a self-employed farmer, who had a humorous personality which drew all who loved him closer. He was a spiritual man who believed in his culture strongly. Steve had a voice which he used to sing Indian or Country Western styles of music. His passion was the time cherished with his children and grandchildren. Those who knew Steve will always remember his infectious smile, surpassed by his humorous side which earned him the name “Eleven Frogs”. Steve was a caring, loving and kind father to Casey Big Plume, Wendy (Norris) Big Plume and Melody Paquayak; he will be forever remembered by his grandchildren Ryan (Jen) Big Plume, Josh (Lisa) Big Plume, Kyle (MJ) Big Plume, Beau Big Plume, Raine Big Plume, Maureen (Reggie) Big Plume) Cayley Big Plume, Peter (Casey) Pasquayak, Chad Pasquayak; and his great grandchildren Sierra, Joshua Jr., Justice, Langdon and Jaslin. Steve is also survived by his sister Josephine Steinhauer and Agnus Houle; brother-in-law Tom Big Plume; special friend Jack Hervey and his family, Rodney (Yvonne) Big Crow, Sandford (Brenda Big Plume; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Steve was predeceased by his wife Maureen and his grandson Rayzon Phoenix Big Plume. Steve was a mentor and a friend to many. We will miss him so much, but his memory will be kept alive. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church Sarcee Nation today at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Tsuu T’ina Cemetery (Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB).
