Obituary of Michael Leonard Heap

Try as he might, our dear father wasn’t able to celebrate one more Christmas with us. Mike is finally resting peacefully with no more pain but his memory will remain in our hearts forever. Mike was a true “Calgarian” – born and raised in Calgary where he lived all of his life. He served in the second World War in the 3rd CLAAR. Mike enjoyed life and especially loved picnics, camping trips and vacations with his extended family. His favourite time though was Christmas. Never having his own children, when he married Marge – our mother he inherited five children. We couldn’t ask for a better father. His career was spent mainly working at the Calgary Brewery and he enjoyed twenty years of retirement. Mike is survived by his brother Jim and his family; his daughters and sons-in-law, Leona and Joe Alberding, Carol and Tom Pun, and Shirley Wasut; his grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; as well as numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his mother and father, his wife Marge, and his two step-sons, Andrew and Gary Wasut. A private celebration of Mike’s life was held on Thursday, December 28, 2006.
