Obituary of Frank James Payce
Frank James Payce, beloved husband of Audrey Payce, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2006 at the age of 82 years.
Frank was born October 18, 1924 in Youngstown, AB to Florence and John Payce. He married Audrey Saigeon of Morse, SK in 1950. Frank was in the oil industry for over forty years and the family lived in Edmonton, Estevan, Weyburn, Drayton Valley, and Fort St. John, before moving to Calgary, where he retired from the oil industry in 1990. They built a beautiful retirement home in Kelowna, BC and lived there for fourteen years, enjoying gardening, skiing and long summers with family and friends. In 2004 his health began to fail and they moved back to Calgary to be with family. Frank had a zest for life and a great love for people. He enjoyed camping, skiing, and traveling with his family. He loved to curl and go fishing with his buddies. He was a committed member of the Lion’s Club in all three western provinces for over forty-five years. It was a great way for Audrey and Frank to make new friends in new places and serve the community at the same time. Frank was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend. He will be very sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.
Frank will be sadly missed by all his family. He is survived by his loving wife Audrey; three children, Valerie Leigh (Ed) of Edmonton, Greg Payce (Laura Vickerson), and Jan Dawley (Tom), both of Calgary; brother Jack (Bev) of Kelowna; and brother Fred (Dolores) of Brant, AB. Frank is predeceased by his sister Florence Irene in 1981. Frank has five nieces and nephews, David and Michael Payce of Brant AB, Ken Shaw of Shaunavon, SK, Larry Shaw of Morse, SK, and Joyce Pollock of Windermere, BC. Frank and Audrey have four grandchildren, Bryan and Michelle Dawley of Calgary, Tim Krikun (Pauline) of High Prairie and Richard Krikun of Slave Lake. Tim and Pauline recently gave birth to Audrey and Frank’s first great-grandchild Marshall.
