Obituary of Otto Gietz

Otto Gietz, beloved husband of Ina Jean entered his eternal home with his Lord and Savior Monday, December 18th 2006 at the age of 81. Born on June 15, 1925 in Poland, thirteenth in a family of fourteen, Otto immigrated with his family to Pincher Creek in 1927. He attended McMaster University where he obtained a Masters Degree in Geology. As a consulting geologist he worked in the oil fields from the Arctic to South America. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, and a founding member of Operation Eyesight Universal, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family and the great outdoors. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all those who knew him. Besides his loving wife Otto will be lovingly remembered by his son Howard and Howard’s son Stephen; daughter and son-in-law Cathy and Gerry Jobagy and their children Greg, Michelle and Andrea, all of Calgary; son Gordon of New York; stepdaughters Linda Westwood and her children Chris and Jennifer; Karen Steinacker. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Alice of California and Millie and George Doubt of Gibsons, B.C., one brother Rev. William and Thora Gietz of Winnipeg, and numerous nieces and nephews. Otto was predeceased by his first wife Yvonne, his parents, and ten siblings. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday December 21, 2006, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church (1311 – 4 Street S.W.) on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev.
