Obituary of Wilfrid Loucks

Wilfrid Artley Loucks died peacefully in his sleep, at home surrounded by family, on Sunday, December 17, 2006. Wilfrid was born on April 22, 1923, in Invermay, Saskatchewan where he grew up and attended high school. After serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942-1945, he graduated in 1949 from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Geological Engineering. In 1950 Wilfrid moved to Calgary and made it his permanent home. He was actively involved in both minor sports and many community activities. The summer cottage at Windermere Lake was a source of joy for family and friends. Wilf had a great love of music throughout his life and enjoyed playing in several Calgary concert bands. He started and led The Summit Big Band, which continues today. Wilf was a well respected business man in both the Oil and Gas and Mining industries. Besides his loving wife of sixty years, Bernadette, Wilf is also survived by his six children; Jackie, Maureen (Phillip Cleland), Diane (Cliff James), Ellen (Mike Penney), David (Delaine), and Greg (Belinda); twelve grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Wilfrid’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
