Obituary of Francine Blomme

Francine Blommé (nee Backelandt) beloved wife of the late George Maurice Blomme of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at the age of 91 years. Francine was born on September 29, 1915 in Lille, France. She was schooled in France and studied towards a teaching certificate. Francine married George Maurice Blomme in France in 1936, where they owned and operated a butcher shop. Three children were born in France, but in 1940 relocated to a ranch south of Shaunavon, SK due to the war. After living and working in various places in Saskatchewan, they moved back to ranch south of Shaunavon, SK in 1954 where the resided until they retired to Calgary in 1976. Francine’s main interests included her family and friends, as well as gardening, farm animals of all shapes and sizes, traveling, volunteering and painting. She was a loving and caring mother who spent her life loving and serving others, both with her good works and her example. She will be dearly missed by everyone. Francine will be lovingly remembered by her four sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Rosemary Blomme Shaunavon, SK, Larry and Maria Blomme of Calgary, Allan and Linda Blomme of Okotoks, AB, and Frank and Charlene Blomme of Calgary; her two daughters and one son-in-law, Lillian Blomme and Angie and Ken Deminchuk all of Calgary; twenty-seven grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her late husbands sisters, Margaret Audette and Grace Herringer. Francine was predeceased by her husband George; two sons, André and Oliver; her mother Sylvie Van De Sande; father Remi-Jospeh; two brothers, Noel and Cyrille; and by her two sisters, Marie-Therese and Marie Josee. Friends and Relatives are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Sunday, December 17, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Monday, December 18, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Alfredo Pereira, Presider. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Shaunavon, SK with the Rev. Joseph Infante, Officiating.
