Obituary of Alfred John Herrmann

Alfred “Alf” John Herrmann of Calgary passed away suddenly on Monday, December 11, 2006 at the age of 75 years. Alf was born and raised in Schuler, AB. As a young man, he moved to Medicine Hat, where he met his soon-to-be wife Margaret Marie Jans. He had an extensive career in the food and produce industry until his retirement in the mid 1990?s. During his retirement, Alf remained active through his involvement with many volunteer groups, including the Heart & Stroke Fund and the Canadian Diabetes Association to name a few. Alf was a cherished father, loving grandfather and a friend to all. Alf is survived by his son Terry (Eileen) Herrmann of California; daughter Sandy Nowell; dear companion Lillian Davis; and his grandson Gabriel. He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters Anne Becker, Bernice (Martin Gorkyos), Ella (Jack Van Maarian), and Eva (Dave Knock); brothers Albert (Alma), Edward (Darlene), and Denden; brothers and sisters-in-law Carol and Les Herman, Pat Herrmann, Bev Jans, Evelyn Jans, Ewald and Elda Jans, and William Jans; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Alf was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 1987; parents John and Emma; brothers Victor and Clarence; brothers-in-law Gilbert Becker and Raymond Jans; sister and brother-in-law Laura and George Schlaht; and his faithful dog Cody.
