Elsie Bell

Obituary of Elsie Bell

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother Elsie Bell (nee Appleby) at the age of 86. Mom was born on January 30, 1920 in Whickham, England. She spent the last ten years of her life living with us, sharing the responsibility of raising our daughter and two cats. She has endeared herself to many with her kind and loving ways and will be sadly missed by all her friends. Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her son, Joel and his wife, Darlene, and their daughter, Caitlin; as well as her son-in-law Ron Michel, and his daughters, Crystal (Boettger) and Melody (Germann). Mom also leaves to mourn her sister, Mary Appleby of Calgary (daughters Pam and Penny), and her brother, William (Billy) Appleby of Edmonton (daughters Jeuline, Joanne and Janelle). Elsie is predeceased by her husband, Tommy Bell, and their daughter, Jan Michel. We invite you to share memories, smiles and tears with us at an “Open House” honouring Mom’s life on Sunday, December 17th from 2:00 pm in our home. Please phone Darlene at 619-2191 for further information. To honour one of Mom’s greatest loves in life – animals – donations can be made in her name to the S.P.C.A. – Calgary Humane Society, 4455 110 Ave., S.E., Calgary, AB T2C 2T7 or on line at www.calgaryhumane.ca. These last three years have held health challenges for Mom and we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Audrey Bowman and Maxine Steeves – without you, we could never have kept Mom at home where she was truly happy. Thanks, also, to Dr. Mark Addison and Palliative Care nurses Irene and Jojo for their support and encouragement during the last days of Mom’s life.
