Obituary of Dorothy Mae Dick

Dorothy Dick beloved wife of John Dick, of Calgary passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at the age of 85 years. Dorothy was born on August 18, 1921 in Winnipeg, MB. She married John on April 17, 1954. Dorothy was very proud of graduating from the Calgary General Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. She received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto in 1952. Dorothy was the director of Nursing Education in Sarnia, ON from 1953 to 1956, and Assistant Director of Nursing at the Calgary General Hospital from 1956 to 1959. From 1969 to 1978 she was an instructor at the Foothills Hospital School of Nursing. Dorothy was an active leader in Cubs and loved to sing, and play the piano, music was everything to her. She was a very caring person who was willing to do anything for her family. Dorothy loved family and the people she knew and wanted the best for everyone. She loved many activities including gardening, but most of all she loved her children and grandchildren. Dorothy’s caring profession went beyond work, it filtered into her whole life in everything she did and everyone she came into contact with. Besides her loving husband Dorothy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Ian and Tammy; her daughter Moira; and two grandchildren David and Brianne. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Orville and Norma White, of Victoria, BC; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Mae and Edgar White. A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
