Obituary of Wilfred Harrison
Wilfred (Wilf) of Calgary, beloved husband of Shirlee, of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on December 10, 2006 at the age of 68 years.
Wilf was born in Innisfree, Alberta, he moved to Calgary in 1957 to attend SAIT. He worked for the City of Calgary Electrical department (now Enmax) for 35 years from 1959 – 1994. Wilf and Shirlee shared many wonderful vacations to warmer climates and have friends scattered throughout North America whom they met during their travels. Wilf loved his garden and after his retirement enjoyed growing a wide variety of flowers and plants, which Shirlee used in her dried floral business. For the past one and a half years, Wilf volunteered at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. Despite struggling with his own illness, he assisted and comforted many patients that came through the centre. He spoke so fondly of the nurses and staff at the centre, who always made him feel very special and helped him keep a positive outlook on the medical challenges he faced personally. Besides his loving wife, Wilf is survived by two sisters-in-law, Doris Just, of Kelowna, and Della McKay, of Charlottetown P.E.I. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Wilf was predeceased by his Mother, Nancy, and his Father, John.
