Obituary
Obituary of Julio Poscente
It is with profound sadness and love that the Poscente family announces the passing of Jules Poscente, beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and mentor, on Friday 8 December 2006.
Jules, a proud native of the Gulch in Trail, B.C., moved to Calgary in 1946 where he studied drafting at Tech. In 1951, he married Maureen; and, starting at Gulf Oil, began his lifelong career in the oil patch. Jules worked from draftsman, to oil scout to land man to management, when he started his own company Red Deer Minerals; all the while playing clarinet and sax for Calgary’s orchestra and dance bands. In 1971 Jules joined Canada North West Land/Energy where success and travel put an end to his professional music. After a short retirement in 1990, Jules founded Eurogas Corporation and only just stepped down as President and C.E.O. in 2005.
Jules’ energy, integrity, humour and generosity earned him countless friends and admirers both at home and abroad. Together, Maureen and Jules are strong supporters of the arts and charity, including the CPO and the Prep Program for downs children and their families.
Cherishing Jules’ memory is Maureen (nee Patmore), his bride of 55 years; their three sons, Kai, Jay, and Lee; six adoring grandchildren, Niki, Chiara, Dallas, J.J., Ashley and Luca; as well as his brother Dante, sister Eleanor and numerous nieces and nephews.
