Obituary of Egerton Charles Perkins

Egerton Charles (Ed) Perkins, our beloved Dad, Grandpa-pa and Great Grandpa passed away on Friday, December 8, 2006 after a brief illness at the age of 92 years. Ed was born and raised in Moose Jaw, SK and moved to Winnipeg, MB with his bride Lisle in 1938. He worked for MacDonald Aircraft in Winnipeg, MB, the Federal Government in Ottawa, ON under PM Louis St. Laurent, for Fleet Industries in Fort Erie, ON, York Gears and Litton Systems in Toronto, ON, CAE Aircraft and Manitoba Development Corp in Winnipeg, MB. His love of aviation led to his membership in the Western Canada Aviation Museum and The Canadian Aviation Council. Ed was active in the community and was Past-President of the St. James – Assiniboia Lions Club. Left to mourn his passing are his daughters, Judith (Dennis) Urbanski, Linda Massie and Kathryn Perkins (Mike Nasr); grandchildren, Terri, Greg, Doug, Chris (Megan) and Kate (Jay); and his great grandchildren, Matthew, Stuart, Fiona, Jack and Evan. He is also survived by his brothers Jack (Jacqui) and Ray (Fran); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ed has now joined his wife and sweetheart Lisle, who predeceased him in June of 2005, he was also predeceased by his son-in-law George Massie in 1988. A Celebration of Ed’s and Lisle’s Lives will be held in Moose Jaw, SK during the summer of 2007. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the wonderful staff at Unit 36 of the Foothills Hospital and the Chinook Hospice, who made Ed’s last weeks and days as comfortable and pleasant as possible. Also thanks to friends and companions Deanne Scott and Helen DeWaars, they were bright rays of sunshine for Ed during this past year.
