Obituary of Theresa Catherine Baxter

Theresa Catherine Baxter of Calgary passed away on Monday, December 4, 2006 after a brave battle with cancer at the age of 60 years. Theresa was born and raised in Toronto and relocated to Calgary in 1981. She served as an alderman from 1983 – 1989 and subsequently worked as a professor at the U of C in the Faculty of Environmental Design. She loved working with the people in her community even when her years as an alderman were over. Theresa always felt that Nose Hill Park was her most important contribution to the city of Calgary. In recent years she especially enjoyed working with her students at EVDS. Theresa was a kind and generous aunt and a devoted pet lover. She was much loved and will be missed by her family and friends. Theresa is survived by her mother Catherine; two sisters and brothers-in-law Cecilia Baxter and Gordon Chaytors and Mary-Anne and Greg McGuire; two nieces Natasha and Zoë; and her beloved Buddy. She was predeceased by her father Harold and sisters Anne Marie and Elizabeth. A Celebration of Theresa’s Life will be held at Hillhurst-Sunnyside Community Association (1320 – 5th Avenue N.W., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the University of Calgary EVDS, Theresa Baxter, Social Issues Scholarship, Faculty of Environmental Design, Professional Faculties Building, Room 2182, 2500 University Drive N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1N4.
